PlayGrid Discord commands and Activity

Use `/playgrid help` in any server with the bot, or skim this page when you want the full list, prerequisites, and how Activity differs from channel posts.

Activity vs the bot

Discord Activity is the planning surface in voice chat: shared games for people on the call, create a session, invite peers. Start with Discord setup guide or the Activity shelf.

The bot adds slash commands, optional LFG channel posts, invite DMs, and RSVP buttons. You can plan from Activity without the bot. Channel LFG and server slash helpers need the bot on the server.

Slash commands (`/playgrid`)

  • `/playgrid help` - this overview plus links (no account link required).
  • `/playgrid sessions` - your upcoming PlayGrid sessions (linked Discord).
  • `/playgrid shared friend:@user` - games you both own (PlayGrid friends, both linked).
  • `/playgrid upcoming` - open sessions posted on this Discord server.
  • `/playgrid invite game:… [when] peer1…` - invite Discord users. Linked PlayGrid accounts join the session; others get a signup DM.
  • `/playgrid lfg game:… [when]` - publish an open session to the server LFG channel.
  • `/playgrid lfg-setup [channel]` - admin (Manage Server): set or show the LFG channel.
  • `/playgrid host` - checklist to host co-op on this server.

What you need before it works

Server admins: Discord server admin setup.

  • Link Steam, Epic, and EA so your library exists. Without sync, `lfg` and `invite` cannot match a game.
  • Link Discord to PlayGrid (sign-in or Account → Discord) for personal slash commands and invite DMs.
  • Admins: add the bot, then run `/playgrid lfg-setup channel:#…` once before open LFG posts work.
  • Session DMs for linked accounts respect Account prefs. Unlinked peers still get a signup DM from `/playgrid invite`.

DMs and channel posts

Invite DMs for linked accounts go only to people with invite prefs on. Users without PlayGrid still get a signup invite DM from `/playgrid invite` - they are not session participants until they join.

`/playgrid lfg` posts publicly on the configured LFG channel. Anyone in the channel can see the card.

Do I need a download for slash commands?
No. Planning and RSVP work from Discord. Start the game in Steam or Epic.
Why did invite fail for someone on my server?
Linked PlayGrid accounts join the session. Without an account, `/playgrid invite` still sends a signup DM - check they allow DMs from server members. Same Discord server alone does not add them as a participant.
Which stores work with lfg and invite?
Steam, Epic, and EA. Sync from Connect stores in Activity.
