Friend owns the game on Epic, you on Steam — can you still play?
If you each own the title on your store, it counts. PlayGrid shows that overlap before you pitch co-op.
Same game, different store can still work
Many co-op titles are on both Steam and Epic. If you each own a copy on your store, you can usually party up. PlayGrid counts that as shared ownership when both libraries are linked.
What fails: only one person owns the title, wrong edition, or DLC one side does not have.
Check overlap before you buy or refund
- Both link Steam, Epic, and EA in the Windows app.
- Add each other on the Friends tab by email.
- Open shared ownership for tonight's roster.
- Shortlist 2-5 titles everyone can launch. Schedule one session with the pick pinned.
Duos vs full squads
Pairs who always split stores should also read the Steam + Epic duo co-op guide. Larger groups use the same overlap filter with more rows.
FAQ
Does PlayGrid merge Steam and Epic into one purchase?
No. You still need your own copy on a store you can launch. PlayGrid compares libraries so the group sees honest overlap.
What about cross-play between stores?
PlayGrid lists shared ownership. Whether a title supports cross-store multiplayer is up to the game. Pick from the overlap list to avoid guessing.
What about GOG, Xbox, and Ubisoft?
GOG, Xbox, and Ubisoft are on the roadmap. Today PlayGrid ships Steam, Epic, and EA with friends, sessions, and launch.
