PC co-op games for three players

Three in voice chat needs a three-plus lobby. Not a strict two-player story game.

Read this before the list

Player limits vary by mode, DLC, and patch. Confirm the co-op lobby cap on the Steam or Epic store page before you buy for the group.

These picks assume three players in one lobby tonight. Not a larger Discord server where only part of the group plays, and not a duo title plus someone sitting out counted as a three-player pick.

Ownership matters more than hype: everyone needs a copy on a store they can launch from PC.

Solid three-player picks on PC

  • Deep Rock Galactic - up to four in a squad; three dwarves is a normal night.
  • Monster Hunter: World - hunts support up to four players; three is a standard party size.
  • Valheim - flexible survival co-op; three works without filling every role.
  • Risk of Rain 2 - up to four online; three-player runs are common.
  • Phasmophobia - up to four investigators; three is fine if one slot stays empty.

Common mistake at three

Suggesting a strict two-player story game because "it is easier." For three in one session, stay on this list (or another title with a lobby cap of three or higher). Do not treat two duo lobbies as a three-player pick.

After someone buys, sync libraries and filter shared games before you send the invite.

Only two playing tonight? Use the two-player list. Four in one lobby? See four-player co-op. Prefer genre first? Browse PC co-op by genre.

Three tonight, four next week?

Filter shared games for tonight's roster. Not the whole server list.
